One of those Weeks....

It's just been one of those weeks.

Monday Virgin Media came to install our internet/cable, were 3 hours late.....only to tell me that the house did not have the proper wiring and they couldn't do it till the problem was fixed. We also discovered that Milo has Eczema--just another thing she got from her daddy. The hard water here is killer on her poor skin.

Tuesday, I called to have an electrician come then called to reschedule our installation. The earliest they have is November 24th! Seriously?!?!?! Milo and I went to a mall nearby and the craft store. We had a great time.

Wednesday, Milo and I walked to the Local farm shop with our neighbor (4.25 miles roundtrip). We both came home and crashed.

Thursday, Milo woke up with a fever! great! The electrician came by and informed me that we do in fact have the correct wiring. Say WHAT?! I feel like I am in an Alanis Morissette song. This has been a nightmare. I called Virgin Media and they moved us up to the 14th..... but technically if their installation technician knew what he was doing, we would already have our TV and Internet. But on the bright side Milo's eczema is improving since we got the shower filter.

Today, I went with my neighbor and her friend to a Christmas fair. It was the highlight of our week! Although, to fit in with the rest of the week, we got rained on. Tonight Milo decided she didn't want to go to sleep....so after 45 minutes of trying to get her to sleep, we gave up. She went to bed a little bit ago....

When we were in Hawaii, she woke up 1-2 times in a 12 hour period. Now she wakes up every 3 hours--if not more often. I know we have gone through a huge transition, but I'm starting to worry that this is the new norm.

Being a Mom is hard work. Not only is it a 24/7 job..... You feel that you are personally responsible, if something isn't going as you think it should. Like, I feel that I am not doing something right if Milo is not sleeping longer. It's a lot of pressure.

It's one thing to have a baby. It's a completely different thing to raise them.

Maybe, just maybe, I have something to do with Milo's personality or temperament... and that makes the hard times a little bit easier to handle.

They start out so cute and innocent...

Then they become mischevious :) You see that look in her eyes... Yeah, she's up to something.

Happy Halloween!

Keeping it short and sweet because, guess what?! They are finally installing my internet today!!! Hey, Hey, HEEEY! I haven't had my own internet since August 4th! Yes, 3 MONTHS AGO!!! We have been using other wifi and finding internet where we could.

But, I had to show you the pictures from our halloween fun yesterday. We didn't go trick or treating. I mean. Let's face it, I don't think Milo should eat candy and JR and I really don't need it either. JR bought a bag of candy from costco for the trick or treaters. He's been eating it. Let's hope we don't get too many visitors tonight. We don't have much. I will have to resort to giving them vegetables :)

We haven't seen the leaves change in 3 years.... and they are just beautiful!

We went to the Crockford Bridge Farm shop for halloween. They had a play area with pumpkin, a creepy teepee, Face painting, and homemade ice cream. The ice cream was Milo's favorite part.  We had lunch in their restaurant.

Milo gave peas a chance as you can see.

Such a cute picture and of course I go and ruin it by puting my hand in there.

Milo was an Octopus. See the Tutorial on Yesterday's post.

Evidently Milo likes goards, or squash, or whatever that thing is.

Her favorite thing about her costume was eating her legs.

YAY FIRST HALLOWEEN!

I forgot how much I love Fall.

Baby Octopus Costume DIY

Don't you just love dressing up for halloween?! Don't you hate buying an expensive costume?! Don't you hate that it is only used for one night?! Well, that's how I feel. Our past 3 halloweens have been pretty amazing in Hawaii. I didn't dress up last year because I was very pretty preggo…but the 2 years before that, we did.

This costume now sits in my closet....

2009
Kermit the frog

Rosalie Cullen

The rosalie costume was regular clothes so it was cheap and I still get to use all the stuff.... Infinitely better.

Well I knew I wanted to make Milo's costume and saw this really cute Octopus costume. I had absolutely everything I needed to make it. It is 100% free! Once Halloween is over, it can be disassembled and everything can be used again! Now that's my kind of costume! It also takes no time at all to make. So those of you who still haven't found your kid a halloween costume for trick or treating--read on then get your bootie into gear and whip up a super cute Octopus costume!

Supplies:
(This is for the no waste version)
7 pairs of tights ( or 6 women's knee high socks and 1 pair of tights)
8 safety pins
Stuffing
Wide ribbon or elastic
Solid Onesie
Beanie
White Felt
2 black buttons or Black felt
Black thread

stuff one leg of each pair of tights with stuffing

Tuck the rest of the pair of tights into that leg...like you would socks.

Repeat 5 more times :)

Take a cotton beanie, cut out white felt Eyes and hot glue them on. Glue on black buttons or Black felt circles. I added some black stitching to be decorative. You can also use tulip paint to simulate the stitches.

Measure your child's waist and double it. That is the length of elastic you need. Double over the elastic and safety pin the legs in between the 2 layers. Center the legs on the elastic. If you use a ribbon you will need to make yours longer. Part of the ribbon will serve as a tie...so be sure that when you place the legs, you only spread them as wide as your child's waist and leave room to tie. Now, Read below where I talk about a gap. You may want to leave a gap in the front so the legs don't get in the way of crawling.

I secured my elastic with 2 safety pins. When you secure it, THere will probably be a bit of a gap where you pinned the elastic together. At first, I put the gap in the back so Milo wouldn't sit on the legs... but then she got tangled up trying to crawl. So I moved it to the front. It works out good because her legs sprawl out in front when she sits down.

Tah-Daaaah!!!!

This took me less than an hour......

If you have old tights that you plan to get rid of anyway you can do it differently:
Cut the legs off the tights, stuff them, sew them in between 2 layers of ribbon or elastic.
You can also hot glue buttons on the underneath side of each leg to act as suction cups! It would be adorable, but Milo needs her tights this winter :)
