If you were stranded on a Desert Island...

11:00 AM

Before I get into this post, I have to post pictures of Milo. If some people *cough*AuntKasey*cough* don't get their Milo fix, they start going into withdrawals.....leading to desperate emails for Milo pictures.... And I know there are many other people out there that want to see her. This is her mini photo shoot from last night. her outfit was just too cute.

On to the part about the desert island.....
If you were stranded on a desert island and had to survive all Swiss Family Robinson style, what are essential items you would need? I'm not talking about the food, drink, fire stuff. I'm talking about everyday things that you would be lost without.

As some of you may know, We are in a transition period. We are moving from Hawaii to London. Our stuff was packed up in hawaii on August 4th. We are in london now, but we still don't have our stuff. Its in transit across the pond. We are living out of suitcases and have been without our stuff for 2 months now. I am going crazy....and I am missing all my stuff! When you go without things for this long, you realize what is truly important to you.....I know london isn't exactly a Desert island, but you get the point. I miss....

I love to cook. My grandmother, who taught me how to cook, gave us a cutco set for our wedding. At the time, I didn't realize the importance. After 4+ years of using them, I love them. I even bought some more right before we left hawaii. They cut so easily.... I have one called the Hardy Slicer that cuts through frozen ground beef!!! SERIOUSLY! I have the cheese slicer which is amazing for tomatoes, potatoes, cheese.... I feel like a pro when I cook with these babies. Being without them is like cooking with one arm tied behind my back.

My Phone

I had an iphone in the states-- we cancelled service before we moved here. They said if we kept up service internationally, we had to give them Milo. Well, not in those exact words :) We now have to wait till we build up British credit before we can buy a phone here. I have this rinky dink cell phone that is so archaic that I dont know how to use it. I feel handicapped without instant access to google maps and email....especially since I have no clue where I am going most of the time.

My Silky Pillow Cover

I know this sounds ridiculous. I used to work for a plastic surgeon and I am all about wrinkle prevention. I  don't know if it's a proven fact or not, but I find I get really deep sleep lines when I sleep with a regular pillow. I also love that the silky pillow cases stay cool and feels nice on my face...Like I'm sleeping on Milo's butt :)

Television.

We didn't have Cable in hawaii. We just watched shows on Hulu, Netflix, and show sites. We JR had it streamed through a media center and watched it on our large television. Here, we have been sitting together on the couch and crowding around the laptop. Now it's kinda nice--extra cuddle time. But Hulu, Netflix, and most show sites don't work here. We have to watch shows on unreliable sources and they take forever to download and may mess up in the middle of watching it. I can't wait to watch shows on our tv without the hassle. We are also going to set up a sling box so we can watch Amercian TV that doesn't play here.

Calphalon skillet

Have you tried calphalon pots and pans?! A friend told me about them and I have bought 3 skillets for about $60 total (from Ross and the base). I found them insanely cheap and they are the best! Nothing sticks to them. I don't even really have to wash them--once they cool off, I rinse it under water and wipe it dry.

Last, but not least is a proper pepper grinder. There is nothing better than freshly ground sea salt or pepper (I kind of have a pepper addiction). I bought a pepper grinder here. Don't worry. Technically, I am replacing one of mine that is being shipped because it broke before we left....that's how I validated that purchase to the hubs :) There are other things that were essential that I have already replaced. Like a baby monitor.... Now that this post is over, I realize that it's not ground breaking material...and it shows that I'm a little spoiled by my husband.... But I am so excited because our stuff is coming in soon and I have been missing these things like crazy! We are moving into our new place tomorrow! I felt like the day would never come!!!!

So, what are the things you'd hate to live without????

FYI: I am not being compensated for supporting these things. I just love them.
